The Sovremenny-class destroyer was a Soviet class of destroyer that first went into commission in 1980. Two ships of this class were present during the Washington National Guard's counteroffensive into Seattle, where they provided fire support for the occupying Soviet forces. At the command of Captain Parker, artillery batteries and strike aircraft directed their fire upon and sank the two ships.
